Harling's Upstairs - A Kansas City Original

Harling’s Upstairs opened in 1979, tucked above Main Street in Kansas City’s historic Southwell Building. The floorboards creaked, the Guinness flowed, and patrons had a drunken good time all nights of the week.

You might’ve stumbled in for a pint and found Eddie Delahunt playing a song that made the whole room sing along and slam their pint glasses on the table. Or maybe you stood elbow-to-elbow on St. Paddy’s Day, surrounded by friends and strangers who somehow all felt like regulars.

Harling’s wasn’t just a bar — it was a place where stories were passed across tables, music spilled out the windows, and patrons returned again and again. The kind of spot you didn’t plan on staying long… until suddenly it was last call.

This site is our way of keeping the lights on — just a little longer.

If you remember Harling’s, you’re in the right place. Stick around. Share your story. Let’s keep the memory alive, together. And maybe, just maybe, 2026 has something in store.
